Imaginative, Eclectic, Unexpected.
“You gotta keep trying to find your niche and fit into whatever slot is left for you or make one of your own.” -Dolly Parton
Floral art and styling with an emphasis on preserved and fibrous material. Creating botanical atmospheres that are more permanent yet ethereal.
About Niche Hitch
Lindsay McWhorter, owner/creative director of Niche Hitch started her career as a teenager working the floral department of a local grocer. After graduating with a bachelors in fashion and a minor in fiber arts, she retraced her floral tradition with an enlightened, unconventional approach.
Niche Hitch was born in Joshua Tree California during 2016, from a repurposed vintage trailer that doubled as a studio space and a mobile retailer. Joshua Tree, being a prominent destination for elopements/intimate events, offered access into the event industry at a more approachable level. It is these two ideas that play together in the word “Hitch.”
Proximity to Los Angeles provided an opportunity to freelance for some of the industry’s most renowned florists and experience floral design at a copious level.
Niche Hitch has since relocated to Detroit, Michigan where she shares a studio with ceramic artist Bobby Veresan. The collective space is called Discreet Studio, where intimate floral and ceramic workshops are offered to the community. Niche Hitch focuses on exploring the unconventional aspects of design, incorporating preserved floral and non-floral elements to create botanical atmospheres that are more permanent yet ethereal. With an emphasis on editorial floral and styling, she utilizes heavy texture and color to displace nature in unnatural environments, ultimately creating a whimsical utopia. Niche Hitch is booking weddings and events that align with her aesthetic direction in both Detroit and Joshua Tree. She continues to further her education with freelance opportunities in both areas as well.
